Description
Savory belonges to the family of Labiatae. It is an aromatic annual herbaceous plant.It has rough leaves with black dots, pink or white flowers and brown seeds which smell pleasantly. Savory's leaves and flowering tops of the dried plant stems are used. It grows mainly in the Eastern Mediterranean. Apart from the aromatic properties, savory has several therapeutic properties. It is a good appetizer with beneficial effect on the digestive system,on the nervous indigestion, on gastric atony, on aerophagia, on bowel convulsions and on stomach colds, diarrhea and colic pains. It acts as a palliative of rheumatic and arthritic pains, eliminates toxins and it is beneficial to gouty and stones kidney. Also, it is used on asthma attacks and is considered as an aphrodisiac .
