Description
Oregano is an aromatic herbaceous, perennial, native and bushy plant of the Mediterranean and Central Asia. The plant has height of 20-80 cm and leaves of length 1-4 cm. It can be exploited when it is cultivated , and even in very poor, dry and rocky soils. Oregano except from the characteristic smell and flavor that gives to food,it has many medicinal properties such as anti-inflammatory and bactericidal. As concoction, the oregano is used for the weakness of the intestines,as an expectorant for coughs and it helps on high blood pressure and atherosclerosis . In Greece, oregano is native and we can find it on mountainous and rocky areas. Oregano is used primarily as a seasoning for cooking and rarely as drink, which is referred as an excellent cure against the cough.
