    Description

    Mushroom is commonly called the visible part of multicellular fungus. There are 38,000 varieties of mushrooms in the world. Some of them are edible and some highly toxic (can cause poisoning or even death). The Greek market has been supplied by the cultured white mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus), portobello, crimini, canned and rarely wild mushroom usually in dried form. In many areas of Greece, some delicious and popular wild species are known as Boletus Eduli, porchini. The mushrooms have high nutritional value. They have high content in proteins and low content in saturated fat, sodium and no cholesterol! Due to the presence of all the essential aminoacids, they have high quality approaching the quality of animal's proteins. Moreover, mushroom is a rich source of dietary fiber and vitamins such as vitamin C, B complex vitamins (especially folic acid and thiamine, riboflavin, B6), zinc, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, copper and selenium.
