Learn about the spice Nutmeg
Nutmeg is considered a spice and it is among the most known and widely used spices in the present day. It has a particularly intense aroma and it's flavor is sweet and strong.
Nutmeg comes from the seed of the fruit of the nutmeg tree. The fruits of the nutmeg are dark brown and their shape is oval or spherical.
The production process is simple, after the collection of the fruits of the tree, the seeds are removed and dried under bright sun for a period of approximately one month. After that, the seeds (kernels) are opened and the interior is collected. Also from crushing the seeds a special oil is produced.
Nutmeg's main uses are in cooking, confectionery, bakery, soap making as well as the flavoring for meats and drinks.

Nutmeg is particularly helpful as a pain relief from gallstones, it is an intestinal antiseptic and stimulant of the brain and the circulatory system.
Be careful as excessive doses can cause convulsions to the kidney. Also it's use should to be avoided by pregnant women.
